Research Scientist

Mr. Swai, has been working at Ifakara Health Institute since 2012. He is a medical entomologist with epidemiology training specializing in the control of malaria and malaria transmitting mosquitoes in Tanzania. He is specifically, interested in understanding the role of migratory livelihoods in maintaining transmission of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa, its implications to the health of individuals and the wider community.

He is keen on developing research agendas that incorporate these aspects as well as the development and evaluation of novel mosquito control tools, particularly those that can be used in temporary housing structures or where primary control measures are not applicable. Currently, he works on phase I, and II testing of new vector control products including Long lasting insecticidal nets, and spatial repellents.#
