Lab technologist versed with smart immunological techniques

Mr. Ivanny Mtaka is a Laboratory technician working with the Malaria Vaccine study (VAC 070) within the Interventions and Clinical Trials department at IHI. He holds a Diploma in Laboratory Technology and has two-year experience in the job.

Officially, Mr. Mtaka joined the Institute in October 2018 as a laboratory technician working in the Malaria Vaccine Trial (VAC070 Study) in the Bagamoyo Lab within the Intervention and Clinical Trials Department.

Before joining the Institute, he served as Intern in the IHI Bagamoyo lab and during his service, he was trained as laboratory technician. He holds a Diploma in laboratory technology he obtained from Sokoine University of Agriculture.

Mr. Mtaka started his career at Bagamoyo Research and Training Center as an Intern after completing his Diploma studies and participating in different laboratory activities.

He can perform different immunological techniques, malaria antibody ELISA, intracellular cytokine staining, and ELISPOT assays, together with Pbmc isolation. Also, he has good laboratory skills in performing gene xpert of which he obtained skills during his tenure as Intern at IHI.#
