Dr. Zawadi Mboma holds the position of Business Development and Partnerships Specialist within the Resource Mobilization and Stakeholder Engagement unit at Ifakara Health Institute. In addition to her role as a Research Scientist, she investigates the complex interactions between humans and the environment, analyzing the spatial-temporal patterns of disease occurrence. Utilizing strategic planning, she prioritizes efforts to fight and eradicate diseases. Before this role, Dr. Mboma served as the Senior Officer leading Ifakara Health Institute’s Grants & Contracts Office.
Dr. Mboma's core interest lies in malaria research, which she approaches as part of a general ecosystem, requiring expanded improvements in the greater health systems and development agenda.
With an extensive academic background, Dr. Mboma holds an MPhil/PhD in Infectious and Tropical Diseases from the prestigious London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (UK). Complementing this expertise, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geography, and Earth Science, and a Certificate in Fundraising and Development from Carthage College (U.S.A).
She is driven by a commitment to holistic health solutions, and is interested in operational research and impact evaluation of interventions, effective leadership and management of health development programs.
Dr. Mboma is passionate about the engagement of women, their representation, and sustainability in leadership positions. She firmly believes that fostering gender diversity is crucial for ensuring inclusivity and achieving equity in global health. Drawing inspiration from the words of Pastor Harvard Stephens – "This is no time to live an uninspired life" – she approaches her work with steadfast dedication, aspiring to make significant contributions to global health while encouraging others to do the same.
