Driving excellence in project adminstration

Ms. Priscilla Mlay has been serving as a Senior Administrative Officer, providing crucial technical support for research project implementations within the Biomedical Research and Clinical Trials department at IHI since 2019. With over two decades of experience spanning various administrative roles and project coordination, she brings a wealth of expertise to her current position.

Ms. Priscilla holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Mzumbe University - Dar es Salaam Campus, which she attained in 2019. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management (BHRM) at the Institute of Social Work, Dar es Salaam in 2016. Her educational journey began with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies from the Tanzania Public Service College, Dar es Salaam in 2012.

Her career commenced in 1998 as a Data Clerk cum Secretary with the Tanzania Essential Health Interventions Project, collaborating with the Adult Morbidity and Mortality Project - TEHIP/AMMP. She later transitioned to the capacity of Secretary cum Office Manager at IHI (formerly known as IHRDC) in 2003, stationed at the Ikwiriri, Rufiji DSS site office. Here, she managed all secretarial, administrative, and accounting matters. In 2010, she relocated to the Dar es Salaam Branch office, assuming the role of Project Administrator and overseeing various research projects within the Health Systems, Impact Evaluation, and Policy department.

Ms. Priscilla's proficiency extends to excellent typing, ICT, multitasking, and organizational skills, enabling her to effectively coordinate the execution of multiple research projects within set timelines and quality standards. She actively contributes to the grant application process and budget development of projects such as USAID Kizazi Kipya, SOAR, and CIIF. Additionally, she has successfully organized numerous domestic and international project findings dissemination meetings across Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.

Before transitioning to her current role within the clinical trial department, Ms. Priscilla worked extensively on projects under the health systems department, including P4P, UNITAS, BIMAWAZAZI, SOAR, CIIF, and EQUINET. Presently, she is engaged in managing over 20 clinical trial studies testing various medical products and devices, including malaria vaccines.
