Dr. Ibrahim Msuya (PhD) is a built environment analyst and designer specializing in examining the environment and its contextual influence on health outcomes.
Ibrahim Msuya is a built environment analyst and designer with a specialized focus on the built environment and its contextual impact on health outcomes. Currently serving as a Research Scientist at the Ifakara Health Institute, Ibrahim's academic journey is marked by a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning, as well as a Master of Architecture degree specializing in Urban Design, both earned at Ardhi University in Tanzania and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Science at the University College Cork in the Republic of Ireland. His research expertise and interest lie in the field of urban informatics, with a keen emphasis on urban health inequalities. Leveraging advanced knowledge in spatial data science and remote sensing, Ibrahim engages in modelling the dynamics of the built environment. His research aims to explore the complexities of health inequities within urban, rural and hinterland settings, enabling tailored preventive measures and interventions.
Ibrahim's professional experiences encompass involvement in international projects, including the, Sustainable, Health and Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods Project. This initiative explored the complex interplay between urban, health, and educational challenges to gain a comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to sustainable neighbourhoods. Additionally, Ibrahim has contributed his expertise to various government research and design projects in diverse capacities i.e the design of government city of Dodoma and the capital city master plan.
