Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a highly motivated Biostatistician Intern to join the MSMT2 project, based in Dar es Salaam. The internship offers a unique opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on training in statistical and analytical work related to malaria molecular surveillance in Tanzania. The successful candidate will become part of a multidisciplinary research team and contribute to data-driven research activities supporting the MSMT2 project and related studies.
The Biostatistician Intern will receive both theoretical and practical training in data management, statistical analysis, interpretation, and presentation of research findings. He/she will work closely with project scientists and mentors to analyze real-world biomedical data, develop statistical computing skills using programming languages such as R, STATA, Python, or SAS, and apply statistical models to address key research questions.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science obtained within the past 24 months, with a minimum GPA of 3.8 and demonstrated potential for scientific leadership. Academic certificates and transcripts are required. Prior experience in genomics, statistical or mathematical modelling, data visualization (particularly using R), or at least one year of experience in a related field will be considered an added advantage.
