
FORUM: Ifakara at the 2025 international AIDS conference

The 13th International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference is taking place from July 13th to 17th, 2025, at the Kigali Convention Center in Rwanda—marking the first time this influential global event is held in Africa. The conference gathers thousands of scientists, advocates, activists, and policymakers from around the world to address critical topics, including the current political and financial challenges impacting the HIV response.
Ifakara Health Institute’s scientist, Dr. Getrud Mollel, is among the delegates attending. Dr. Getrud serves as the Site Principal Investigator for the multisite Sauti Ya Vijana Trial, which is featured in the 2025 WHO guidance on HIV disclosure, officially launched during the conference.
