The Ifakara Health Institute is thrilled to extend warm wishes to all stakeholders in the public health space as we celebrate the Farmers’ Day today.

The Farmers’ Day, widely known as “Nane Nane” in Swahili which literally translates “eight eight” – reflecting the eighth day of the eighth month – is a special occasion which honors the hardworking farmers of Tanzania and highlights the vital contributions of the agricultural sector to the nation’s economy and development.

This year, Ifakara has been proudly participating in the 2024 Farmers' Exhibition, a key event of the Nane Nane celebrations. In the ongoing exhibition, held at the Julius Nyerere Grounds in Morogoro from August 2 to August 8, Ifakara exhibits inside the Ifakara Town Council pavilion.

The Nane Nane exhibition not only provides an opportunity for farmers to display their produce and innovations but also fosters knowledge exchange and collaboration among stakeholders in the agricultural industry. As an institute dedicated to improving health outcomes and fostering sustainable development, IHI is excited to engage with farmers, researchers, and the wider community during this event.

We invite everyone to join us in celebrating Nane Nane 2024 and to visit our exhibition booth at the Julius Nyerere Grounds in Morogoro. Let's honor the farmers and their significant contributions to Tanzania’s growth and prosperity.
