APPRECIATION: Ministry director applauds Ifakara for excellence in research
On July 11 2024, the Director of Child Affairs at Tanzania’s Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Sebastian Kitiku, has praised the Ifakara Health institute for its excellence in research. He issued the applause during the ongoing discussions at the Early Childhood Development (ECD) project dissemination workshop held in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Reflecting on the newly announced phase of the ECD project, which builds on the first phase's results and stakeholder feedback, Kitiku acknowledged Ifakara's role. "I would like to acknowledge the Ifakara Health Institute's contribution in supporting the government through research. Their efforts in knowledge generation greatly complement our efforts to address key health priorities, including those related to ECD," he stated.
Highlighting Ifakara's specific contributions, Kitiku informed the diverse gathering of stakeholders, including representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community Development, President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government, Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, UNICEF, and WHO, about the institute's pivotal role in informing government decisions on ECD.
Kitiku is among the key stakeholders from the government, national and international agencies, and non-governmental organizations gathered in Morogoro from July 10-12, 2024, to review the results of phase one of the ECD study and witness the launch of its second phase.
