WEBINAR: Community engagement for public health research
On Wednesday July 10, 2024, the Ifakara Health Institute took part in an interactive and insightful webinar exploring the critical role of community engagement in global health research and its significant impact on public health in East Africa.
This session was moderated by Ms. Sheikha Mohamed, the Africa Regional Mesh Community Engagement Network Regional Coordinator, who also serves as a Community Engagement Coordinator at Ifakara. The webinar featured prominent Ifakara scientists Dr. Fredros Okumu and Dr. Prosper Chaki. They were joined by Ms. Naima Sykes, Imperial College London, and Ms. Noni Mumba from Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)
Participants had the opportunity to learn how meaningful partnerships with communities can lead to impactful research outcomes and influence public health policies and practices. This webinar was designed for researchers, healthcare professionals, and community health workers who are interested in enhancing their understanding and practices of community engagement in public health research.
