FORUM: Ifakara Director attends SwissTPH symposium
On 8 February 2024, Dr. Honorati Masanja, the Director of Ifakara Health Institute, participated in a symposium hosted by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute to discuss strategies for enhancing healthcare accessibility in Low- and Middle-income Countries (LMICs).
According to an article published by SwissTPH on the 8th February 2024, the symposium brought together 250 attendees, including national and international experts, researchers, and policymakers who participated both in person and virtually. The diverse group comprised individuals from academia, the pharmaceutical industry, politics, and product development partnerships, aiming to evaluate current strategies and promote collaborations in research, drug development, and the implementation of medicines.
Dr. Masanja delivered remarks during the event, emphasizing, "Strengthening health systems involves not only enhancing access to medicines, vaccines, and diagnostics but also establishing sustainable and accessible structures, including local partnerships."
