We are proud to share that the Vector Control Product Testing Unit (VCPTU) at Ifakara Health Institute has successfully achieved continued compliance with the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) following a review by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS), securing certification for another five years.

This remarkable achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to scientific excellence, quality assurance, data integrity, and the generation of reliable evidence to support the evaluation of vector control products aimed at combating malaria and other vector-borne diseases.

Maintaining OECD GLP compliance is a significant milestone that reinforces VCPTU’s position as one of Africa’s leading research facilities for vector control product testing. It demonstrates our ability to conduct studies that meet internationally recognized standards and support product development, regulatory decision-making, and public health innovation.

Through this continued compliance, VCPTU remains well-positioned to:

  • Generate high-quality, credible, and internationally accepted scientific data for vector control product evaluation
  • Support manufacturers, researchers, and regulatory agencies in assessing the safety and efficacy of innovative vector control interventions
  • Contribute to global efforts in malaria prevention and the control of other vector-borne diseases
  • Strengthen Africa’s capacity for world-class research and product testing under internationally recognized quality standards
  • This accomplishment would not have been possible without the dedication and professionalism of our staff, as well as the continued support of our partners, collaborators, and SANAS.
  • Congratulations to the entire VCPTU and IHI team for this outstanding achievement and for their continued contribution to advancing public health research and innovation.
