HAPPY FASTING SEASON! Time of reflection, renewal, and shared humanity
With the annual holy fasting seasons beginning at the same time in 2026, the Ifakara Health Institute extends warm wishes and blessed holy fasting seasons to our Christian and Muslim partners in Tanzania and around the world.
Summarily – announcements from authorities in Tanzania and globally indicate the Lenten season begins on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 and will end on Thursday, April 2, 2026, while that of the holy month of Ramadhan begins on Wednesday, February 18 & Thursday, February 19, 2026 and will end on Thursday, March 19 & Friday, March 20, 2026.
Though distinct in tradition, both Lent and Ramadhan are united in spirit — seasons of fasting, prayer, reflection, generosity, and renewal. They invite believers to pause, to seek spiritual growth, to practice compassion and humility, and to strengthen bonds within families, communities, and across humanity. At Ifakara, these shared values deeply resonate with who we are.
70 years sustained not just by scientific excellence
As we mark 70 Years of Impact since our journey began From Ifakara to the World in 1956, we are reminded that our success has been sustained not only by scientific excellence, but also by integrity, service, solidarity, and commitment to improving lives.
We strongly believe that the disciplines of reflection and self-renewal embodied in these sacred seasons mirror our own continuous pursuit of new knowledge, innovation, and meaningful impact in Tanzania and around the world.
May this special time bring peace to your hearts, strength to your spirit, and hope to your communities. May it renew our collective commitment to compassion, partnership, and the shared mission of advancing health and well-being for all.
Wishing you and all our stakeholders a blessed and meaningful fasting season.
