In 2026, the Ifakara Health Institute commemorates 70 years of scientific excellence and public health impact under the theme “70 Years of Impact.” This milestone marks seven decades of pioneering research, innovation, and enduring Swiss–Tanzanian collaboration that has shaped national, regional, and global health policies—saving millions of lives in Tanzania, Africa, and beyond.

This is a strategic, year-long celebration running from January to November 2026. More than a commemoration, the anniversary is designed as a forward-looking platform to reflect on past achievements, showcase current innovations, deepen stakeholder engagement, and mobilize resources for future impact.

Anchored in Ifakara’s rich legacy—ranging from insecticide-treated nets and malaria vaccine trials to health systems strengthening, AI-driven surveillance, and One Health innovations—the celebrations will highlight how evidence generated at Ifakara has consistently translated into policy change and improved health outcomes. The program aligns anniversary activities with global and national health observance days, ensuring relevance, visibility, and resonance with diverse audiences.
