A visionary leader and an unwavering champion of public health, Dr. Ndugulile passed away today, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in India, while undergoing treatment.
During his tenure as Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Ndugulile spearheaded transformative health initiatives, overseeing the construction of over 1,000 health facilities and championing life-saving vaccination programs. His impact extended globally as he worked with international organizations to strengthen health systems across Africa.
“Dr. Ndugulile was more than a colleague; he was a close partner of Ifakara in the shared mission of generating evidence and transforming lives. His leadership, integrity, and compassion have left an indelible mark on Tanzania and the global health community,” said Dr. Honorati Masanja, Director of Ifakara Health Institute in an official statement.
Earlier this year, Ifakara proudly endorsed Dr. Ndugulile's candidacy for the position of WHO Regional Director for Africa, recognizing his inspiring career in public health leadership.
