MEETING: Ifakara provides technical support for health sector strategic plan review
Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is currently providing technical support for the mid-term review (MTR) of Tanzania's Health Sector Strategic Plan V (HSSP V). This review, commissioned by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), is essential for evaluating the progress of HSSP V and providing guidance for its continued implementation, as well as shaping the upcoming HSSP VI.
A team of local and international consultants is supporting the MTR, having conducted several planning sessions. The initial meeting took place in Dodoma with the Ministry of Health, and subsequent meetings are ongoing. Recently, the team strategized on executing the work, with some consultants participating virtually.
On August 27, 2024, Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) participated in a critical meeting with other consultants to review the various work packages.
Dr. Sally Mtenga and Dr. Getrude Mollel from IHI are leading the efforts under the supervision of Dr. Honorati Masanja, Ifakara’s Executive Director.
Throughout the MTR process, IHI will maintain close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders to ensure the review is completed as planned.
The outcomes of this review will be instrumental in guiding Tanzania’s health sector’s strategic direction, ensuring it addresses population needs and responds effectively to emerging health issues. Ifakara’s involvement in the MTR highlights its commitment to advancing health in Tanzania and supporting the nation's health sector goals.
