TRAINING: Ifakara sharpens communication skills at USAID Workshop
In a move to sharpen their communication capabilities, a couple of members of the Ifakara Health Institute participated in the USAID/Tanzania "Fundamentals of Impactful Communication" Workshop held from July 9-10, 2024. The training took place at the Coral Beach Hotel in Dar es Salaam and was organized by the USAID mission's Development Outreach and Communications Team.
Attendees learned about effective communication, including USAID's Communication Strategic Planning, consistent branding and marking, and event organization.
The workshop also included training in photography, video production, and impactful writing. Participants learned to capture high-quality visual content and create compelling written material, enhancing their ability to document and promote their activities. Sessions on long-form document development, such as blogs and success stories, provided valuable storytelling techniques.
These insights help tailor strategic plans to align with USAID's goals and enhance their work's visibility and impact.
Representatives from Ifakara, including PMI Shinda (Defeat) Malaria Senior Program Officer Florence Lema and Ifakara Communication Officer Jane Moshi, found the knowledge gained from the USAID/Tanzania workshop to be important in advancing the Institute’s communication efforts.
This workshop comes at a crucial time for Ifakara, as the Institute is currently engaged in several USAID-funded projects across Tanzania. The enhanced communication skills will enable IHI to more effectively showcase the impact of these projects, ensuring that their efforts are recognized and supported both locally and internationally.
