Emmanuel Elirehema Hape is a dedicated vector biologist within the Environmental Health and Ecological Sciences department at Ifakara Health Institute. He has over 5 years of experience in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. 

Emmanuel Hape currently leads a three-year project at Ifakara, that aims to enhance genetic control methods against Anopheles funestus, a malaria vector. His research interests include Vector biology and epidemiology of infectious diseases such as malaria, genetics, and molecular epidemiology of disease vectors and their etiology. He is passionate about utilizing molecular tools, such as DNA sequencing and PCR, to analyze genetic data at the molecular level, unraveling the intricacies of genes and genomes.

Emmanuel holds a Master of Science degree in Quantitative Methods in Biodiversity Conservation and Epidemiology from the University of Glasgow (UK) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. program in Virology (Vector-Borne diseases) at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.
