Monitoring Interventions to Improve Artemisinin-based Combination Treatment (ACT) Access and Targeting in Tanzania through Household and Health Facility surveys.
To evaluate the effectiveness of these two national strategies in terms of their impact on coverage, equity, quality, adherence, and their costs and cost-effectiveness by measuring:
A) In the Household Survey:
1. the proportion of people who reported fever in the previous two weeks;
2. the diagnosis and treatment obtained;
3. the costs incurred & the prevalence of symptomatic and asymptomatic parasitemia and anemia.
B) In the Health Facility Survey:
1. the proportion of febrile patients who receive a diagnostic test for malaria;
2. the proportion of patients appropriately treated according to RDT results;
3. the accuracy of RDT health worker performance & the adequacy of health facility resources for diagnosis & treatment of malaria.
