 Short TitleNgara Study

 Project Leader Sarah Moore

 Description In line with Concern’s goal to “help people living in extreme poverty achieve major improvements in their lives which last and spread without ongoing support from Concern”, we aim to develop and institutionalize research support for Concern’s activities at the Ifakara Health Institute through an active operational research programme focusing on preventing malaria and water-borne diseases. This goal will be attained through the specific objectives.

Additionally, the project objectives are;

1.  Identify key risk factors for malaria, DD and ARI that are environmental and / or behavioural

2.  Measure the impact of repellent plants on mosquito density and incidence of malaria

3.  Elucidate interactions between environmental health and clinical episodes of malaria, DD, ARI and possible interactions thereof

4.  Train 2 post graduate students

5.  Publish several scientific papers in good scientific journals

6.  Provide monitoring and evaluation of Concern’s health programme.
