Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is one of Africa's most eminent health research organizations with a history of more than 50 years. IHI is an independent, non-profit organization, registered in Tanzania and led by Tanzanians. The institute won the Asturias Award for International Cooperation (2008) and several other national and international awards. This non-governmental organization conducts a wide range of health-related research, including biomedical and environmental studies, trials of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics, health-systems research, and monitoring and evaluation.

The Senior Administrator is responsible for all administrative and human resources management activities in the thematic group including reporting, logistical and procurement activities within the thematic group.

The Facility Manager will be responsible for managing all facilities of the Environmental thematic group. These facilities includes; mosquito rearing units, screen houses and experimental huts. He/she will be responsible for developing guidelines and SOPs for the use and oversee maintenance of the facilities. He /she will also be responsible for the profit and loss of the facilities and management of facilities budgets.

Spatial Repellent Multi Country (SRMC) is looking to hire a clinical team composed of clinical officers/nurses. The team will be required to work in various health centres in Bagamoyo on which the individual will be assigned and provide assistance in clinical research activities. 

IHI in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Ltd is intending to conduct a study on exploring the burden and determinants of non–smoking chronic obstructive pulmonary disease among high risk population strata in Tanzania. This work package will provide data on the burden and correlates of COPD in Tanzania for informed planning and intervention. It will further provide a framework for improving clinical care of patients with asthma and COPD in Tanzania. The study will be carried out in Maswa and Simanjiro Districts.
