Bagamoyo scientists have today held several feedback sessions with the parents and guardians of the RTS,S malaria vaccine study participants. The meetings were also attended by village leaders and representatives of the Community Advisory Board. In their discussion with the communities, scientists stressed that the malaria vaccine does not replace current malaria control strategies. Malaria preventive measures should be continued and early treatment initiated whenever one gets malaria. IHI researchers also informed the communities about the next steps, including future follow up visits for a period not less than two years. |
